Instructions

    • 1

Determine how much coffee you want to make. For example, perhaps you wish to make 4 cups of coffee. Remember that 1 cup of coffee is considered equal to 6 oz.

    • 2

In general, you should use 2 tbsp. of ground beans for each 6-oz. cup of coffee. Using the example of 4 cups, this means that you will need 8 tbsp. of ground coffee.

    • 3

Prepare to grind your whole coffee beans. Keep in mind that about 1 tbsp. of whole beans will give you about 2 tbsp. of ground beans. For 4 cups of coffee, you will need to grind 4 tbsp. of coffee beans, or ¼ of a cup.

    • 4

Grind the beans to the appropriate texture for drip coffee. Each grinder is different, and most have a setting that indicates the right speed.

    • 5

Measure out 8 tbsp. of newly ground beans and put them into your coffee filter. Add 24 oz. of water (for 4 6-oz. cups) to the machine and brew as you normally would.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you prefer darker coffee, consider using 3 tbsp. per cup, and if you like it weaker consider using 1 to 1 1/2 tbsp. per cup.

  • All coffeemakers differ. You will likely have to play with the amounts to get the exact strength you desire. It is wise to make it in small batches so you don't risk ruining a large amount of expensive coffee if it is not to your liking.
