1
Prepare your eyes for Shiseido cream eyeliner by applying an eye primer on clean eyelids, from lash line to browbone. Once the eye primer absorbs, blend an eyeshadow base on your lids, also from lash line to browbone. Dust translucent powder on your eyelids to set the primer and base. Whether or not you wear eyeshadow, prepping your lids is necessary if you want to brighten up your eye area, help your eyeliner go on smoothly and last longer and appear highly pigmented against your skin.

2
Dip the stiff angled brush into the Shiseido cream eyeliner. The product comes with its own brush, but you can use another one if you feel more comfortable doing so. Work the product into your top lash lines. You aren't actually drawing a line on your eyelids so much as intensifying your top lash lines. When applying eyeliner, always make sure that no skin is showing in between the product and your lashes.

3
Soften any jagged edges in your upper lash line application of the Shiseido cream eyeliner with an eye smudge brush or cotton swab. This creates a smoky effect. Be sure you smudge the eyeliner immediately before it sets. If you prefer a clean and strong line, don't smudge the eyeliner; instead, prop your elbow on a table or countertop while laying down a neat line on your half-closed upper eyelid. You don't have to swipe the line on in one fluid motion; you may draw dots or dashes along your top lash lines and connect them. Lightly wing out the ends of the eyeliner as you reach the outer corners of your eyes if you want a subtle eye lift.

Dip the small, stiff angled brush in the Shiseido cream eyeliner once more, but do it with a lighter hand because you need less product this time. Apply the eyeliner to the base of your bottom lashes, beginning at the outer corner and working your way toward the inner corner of your eye. You may stop midway if you have relatively small eyes so that you don't overwhelm your eyes with eyeliner. Smudge the cream eyeliner on your lower lash lines with the eye smudge brush or cotton swab. Hard lines on the bottom eyelid will pull your eyes down, so make sure to soften your application before the eyeliner dries.

5
Give your eyes a sultry and more defined look by applying the Shiseido cream eyeliner in black to the rims of your eyes. This is called "tightlining." This is optional, especially for those with sensitive eyes, and you can do this on its own or combined with full eye makeup. Apply the cream eyeliner to just your upper rims if you're looking for a discreet way to call attention to your eyes. The eyeliner itself won't be very evident in this placement, even though your eyes are clearly more noticeable.
