Pointed hats, warts on the nose and a high pitched cackle are traditions that have made the witch one of the most popular Halloween costumes for years. Halloween costume types have expanded far beyond the frightening classics in recent years, but the witch still remains a favorite of many people.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Three black plastic garbage bags
  • Scissors
  • Witch hat
  • Black turtleneck
  • Push pin or needle
  • Black tights
  • Black boots
  1. Step 1

Cut off the sealed end of one plastic bag. Make it into a cape by cutting down one side at the seam. With the scissors, add holes across one end of the bag about 2 inches apart. This should run the entire width of the bag and will be used to thread a plastic strip through in order to tie the cape around your neck.

  2. Step 2

Take the second plastic bag and cut the sealed end off of it as well. Don't cut down them seam though; this bag will be made into the witch's skirt. Make holes around what will be the waist of the skirt. The holes should be about 2 inches apart and cover the entire top of the skirt. You will be threading a plastic strip through these holes to use like a belt.

  3. Step 3

Take the third bag and cut two strips off of the open end. These strips should be about a half and inch wide each. Then cut the seam on one end of the strip. This way you have one long continuous strip.

  4. Step 4

Using the needle, push the plastic strip in and out of the holes you made on the cape leaving some length hanging down on each end. Repeat this process on the top of the skirt as well. Finish off the skirt and cape by cutting a jagged edge across the bottom of each bag.

  5. Step 5

Get dressed by putting on the tights and the black turtleneck shirt. Then step into the skirt and tighten it using the plastic strip belt. Next, put on the cape by tying it loosely around the neck. Add the black boots and black witch's hat for the finishing touches!

Tips & Warnings
  • You can add small touches to the costume by using green eye shadow or carrying a broom. This makes a great costume for a rainy night since the plastic bags will protect you from getting soaked.
  • Make sure you don't tie the cape too tight around the neck to avoid choking.
