How To Make Preschool Valentine Holders

These Valentine holders are easy enough for your preschool age child to do all of the work alone, but if he wants to cut out pictures and tape them on, you will need to assist with the cutting. To decorate the outside of these holders, the only limits are your child's imagination. Make sure that her name is visible below the flap on the back of the envelope so your child's classmates will know that it is her Valentine holder.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the envelope over so that the flap is facing up.

    • 2

Write your child's name below the flap on the envelope. You can also allow him to write it.

    • 3

Let your child use the crayons or markers to decorate the outside of the envelope on both the front and back. Remind her that the side with the flap closure will be the front of the Valentine holder.

    • 4

Cut out pictures from magazines or shapes from construction paper. Possibilities include red or pink heart shapes.

    • 5

Allow your child to tape or glue the shapes onto the envelope.

    • 6

Post the envelope by hanging it on a wall from the open top flap. Other children will put their Valentine cards to your child into the envelope through the opening at the top.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not let your child use the scissors alone.
