How to Use Pipe Cleaners in Hair

Pipe cleaners are wires wrapped in material. The material makes the wires easier to use. Pipe cleaners have many uses. You can use them to create all kinds of crafts projects. You can also use them to enhance the look of your hair in a variety of ways. You can make rollers to hold curls. You can make a hair clip. You can use them to hold braids in place. The possibilities are endless.

• Roller
• Cardboard
• Bobby pins
• Silk flower
• Hair clip
• Hot glue gun
• Beads
• Combs

1. Place hair in a roller. Use pipe cleaners to secure the hair in place. Tuck the ends of the pipe cleaners in firmly, to avoid scratching your skin.

2. Create a butterfly hair clip. Cut out a circle of cardboard, 3 inches in diameter. Draw a butterfly on the cardboard. Wrap a pipe cleaner around the middle of the cardboard drawing, and secure it. Glue two pipe cleaners at the top of the center of the butterfly to make antennae. Secure to your hair with bobby pins.

3. Braid hair. Wrap a 2-inch length of pipe cleaner to end of the braid. Glue a silk flower to the end for a finished and creative look.

4. Take two stands of hair, about 1/2 inch in diameter. Secure a pipe cleaner to the top of the strands. Braid the hair using the pipe cleaner as the third section of the braid. Secure the ends of the braid with small hair clips to keep in place.

5. Braid three pipe cleaners, about 6 inches in length. Wrap the ends of the pipe cleaners together tightly. Using a hot glue gun, add beads to the pipe cleaner braid. Place across the top of your hair. Keep the decorative braid in place with bobby pins or combs.
