Glass pendants can allow you to showcase fabrics, collages, ephemera and other items in a wearable and attractive form. Consider old books, vintage magazines or even family photos to make these pendants. Hang your pendants off a standard gold or silver chain, a ribbon or a dog tag style chain. Making glass tile pendants requires only a few basic supplies from your local craft store.

Instructions

  1. How to Make a Pendant

    • 1

Lay your glass tile on top of your paper or fabric and trace around it, centering the design as you prefer. Cut your paper or fabric the same size as or slightly smaller than the glass tile you are using for your glass pendant.

    • 2

Using a clear glue, adhere the image to the back of the glass pendant tile. Spread the glue evenly. Allow the glue to dry for 24 hours before continuing work on your pendant. Wipe the edges clean.

    • 3

Apply Mod Podge or Diamond Glaze to the back of the glass tile, following manufacturer's directions using a flat craft paint brush. Diamond Glaze will provide a more resin-like look with more depth than Mod Podge.

    • 4

Use E6000 or a similar adhesive to attach one or two Aanraku bails. Use one for a vertically oriented pendant and two for a horizontally oriented glass tile pendant. Dry for 24 hours before wearing your new glass pendant.

    • 5

Hang your pendant on a chain, ribbon or use it as a key chain.

Tips & Warnings

  • Change the appearance of your glass pendants by choosing different sizes of glass tiles.

  • Be sure to choose a heavy glass tile for a key chain.
