Things You'll Need:
- Eye primer
- Eyeshadow base
- Translucent powder
- Liquid eyeliner
- Eye smudge brush
- Small, stiff, angled brush
- Water
- Powder eyeshadow
-
Step 1
Prep your eyes for eyeliner application by smoothing an eye primer on clean lids from lash line to brow bone. When the primer absorbs, blend an eyeshadow base on, also from lash line to brow bone. Dust translucent powder on your lids to set the primer and base. Even if you will not be wearing eyeshadow, primer and base brighten your eyes and help your eyeliner go on smoothly, as well as last longer and appear more vivid.

Step 2
Prop your elbow on a table or countertop to apply liquid eyeliner, if you have an unsteady hand. You don't have to draw a straight line across your lid; you can dot the product along your upper lash lines and later connect the dots carefully to create a smooth line. Regardless of how thick you want the line to be, keep the eyeliner close to the lashes so that no skin shows in between the product and your lashes. If you want a smoky look rather than a clean line, soften the liquid eyeliner with an eye smudge brush while the eyeliner is still wet.

Step 3
Turn powder eyeshadow into wet eyeliner by dipping a small, stiff, angled brush in a drop of water, before swirling the bristles in the powder eyeshadow. Tap off the excess product before working the wet eyeliner into the base of both your top and bottom lash lines. As with the liquid eyeliner, make sure no skin is peeking in between the eyeliner and your lashes. Since wet eyeshadow has a different texture from liquid eyeliner, allow it to dry before buffing away any hard lines with the eye smudge brush. The powder will appear more vibrant as a wet eyeliner, compared to applying it dry.
