How to Reset the Desktop on PC
Sometimes when something goes terribly wrong with a computer, the Desktop disappears after Restart. There are many triggers for this. It could be an abrupt power outage, a virus, improperly shutting down the computer or a system crash. Resetting your desktop isn't the hardest procedure in the world, granted you fix the problem that caused the Desktop to disappear before you begin to reset it. It's all a simple matter of changing your Desktop's theme and applying the changes.

1
Right-click an empty space on the Desktop and a drop-down menu will appear.

2
Click "Refresh." This should work for minor problems, but it won't if your Desktop is recovering from a major problem. If refreshing the Desktop doesn't work, move to Step 3.

Tips & Warnings
If you had a favorite wallpaper, it's probably still on your computer. All you have to do is right-click on the Desktop, click "Properties" or "Personalize" (again, depending on your system), and click on "Desktop Background." Click "Browse" to search for the wallpaper. Once you find it, select it, set its on-screen positioning (Tiled, Centered and Stretched are the usual options) and apply it.
