Vinyl tablecloths can provide an excellent table covering for messy eaters--especially children. The smooth vinyl surface is easy to clean and difficult to stain. After-dinner clean-up often involves little more than a quick swipe with a damp cloth. The downside to these is that they cannot be laundered the way fabric tablecloths can. When a vinyl tablecloth takes on the inevitable wrinkles, you can remove these creases with a quick treatment with a hair dryer.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Place the tablecloth on a clean, flat surface with the vinyl side facing down.

  2. Step 2

Plug in the hair dryer and turn it on high with a medium heat setting. With the dryer about 4 inches from the tablecloth, slowly move it along the creases to warm them.

  3. Step 3

Turn off the hair dryer when the vinyl is warm and soft, and stretch the tablecloth out flat on the table. This should relax and remove the creases.

Tips & Warnings
  • For more difficult creases, the famous home and garden guru Heloise suggests tossing the tablecloth in the dryer on low heat with a couple damp washcloths for a few minutes.
