If you live in Western New York or are planning a vacation in the Finger Lakes region of New York state, stop by the Finger Lakes Race Track in the town of Farmington. Referred to as the "Racino," you can place your bets on your favorite horse upstairs and try your luck at the slots downstairs!

1. If you enjoy live thoroughbred horse racing, you'll love Finger Lakes Race Track in Farmington. April 17 begins the 2009 live racing season, with gates opening at 11:00 a.m. Arrive early; grab a cup of coffee and danish downstairs; head upstairs for the excitement!

Whether you play 1 cent, 2 cent, 5 cent or 1.00 machines, there are 1,200 video slots to choose from, including the popular Tiki Torch, Blazing 7's and Cleopatra. The gaming floor is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Just remember to play responsibly... leave your grocery money at home!

3. I recommend dining at Finger Lakes Race Track at the all-you-can-eat buffet. The price is reasonable considering the variety of foods. I especially enjoy the prime rib and sea food. If it's just a snack or sandwich you want, they have a little shop for that too.

4. The best days to be at Finger Lakes Race Track are Friday and Saturday. On those evenings, the sports bar has live musical entertainment. There is always something fun going on here!

• Take only what you can afford to lose! Of course you have just a good a chance of winning as anyone else, but you can't plan on it. It's just a game; don't go for BROKE!
