GreenSpot Application on MySpace is a great oppurtunity to make friends, create a beautiful virtual garden, and help save the rain forest. If you don't have a GreenSpot or MySpace, I will be discussing how to start a MySpace account and also how to get involved in the GreenSpot application in another article.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • I used a 11 x 14 inch frame with a photo mat included (your project can be bigger or smaller)
  • color printer with color ink cartridge
  • Computer (desktop or laptop)
  • time (estimated about 30-40 minutes)
  • tape
  1. Step 1

First step is to create your MySpace account and add the GreenSpot as a friend.

  2. Step 2
When your are printing, stay nearby to stop the printer once your garden is printed. See warning.
When your are printing, stay nearby to stop the printer once your garden is printed. See warning.

Once you've created your virtual garden (which is really quite easy since all you have to do is right click on your mouse to arrange items in the garden and you can use the scale button to make garden items bigger or smaller) You simply have to right click onto the section with your virtual garden in it until it says zoom in, zoom out, and so forth until it shows print.

  3. Step 3

Print out your virtual garden and cut off the excess paper around your picture. I also printed out the description of my virtual garden seeing as I am sending this framed garden to my Sweetheart Daniel who I dedicated this garden to him. You may want to do the same for the person you're sending the garden. You can move all your garden items to your greenhouse on the application, so you can start a new garden.

  4. Step 4
Layer the cut out garden on top of the discription and tape it in place in the matt.

Tape your virtual garden picture and description into the mat and replace it into the picture frame.

Tips & Warnings
  • Leave the Styrofoam insert in the picture frame to make the printout stay firmly in place in the frame.
  • Also when you are mailing the picture frame, use the cardboard that came with your picture frame to prevent your glass from breaking on its journey to your loved one.
  • I also would wrap bubble wrap around the picture frame and mail it in a box that is just slightly bigger than the picture frame.
  • Make sure your printer is turned on and set to print COLOR not gray scale (see the example of print outs above) Number 1 and 2 are examples of how NOT TO print it out. Number 3 is correct because I stopped the printer from wasting black ink unlike number 2 which has a thick band of black under my virtual garden.
  • DO NOT Tape the cardboard in place over the glass portion of your picture frame. Keep it in place by using a rubber band instead.
  • Also stick the tape onto the bubble wrap to keep it in place.
