How to Create Unique Invitations

Create Unique Invitations
Create Unique Invitations

Have you ever drooled over those gorgeous scrapbook style invitations that come in the mail? If you are like me, you don't have the time to create these invitations, nor the money to pay someone else to create them for you. I found a very inexpensive way to make beautiful and unique invitations, and it will only cost you about 9 cents per invitation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first step to creating unique invitations is to choose your theme. Once you have your theme, log on to one of the free scrapbooking websites. Ones such site is Smile Box, and another is Scrapblog. This is where you will design your invitation. You must become a member in order to use the site. The features that you will be using are free. Click on "Get Started". Once you are a member, then you will begin to design your invitation.

  2. Step 2

You can either start with a party theme, or create your own from scratch. Both methods work the same, but if you start with a theme, someone has already done the work for you. Let's try clicking on "Start with a blank page". You will see buttons down the left hand side of the page. This is where you can upload photos, choose sticker, backgrounds, text blocks, shapes, video and frames. Play around with all of these effects, and have fun designing your birthday party invitation. Let your kids help you with the design, it is fun! And kids love being involved in the planning of a party.

  3. Step 3

Once you have finished designing your invitation, save it. Then, go up to the File menu and scroll down to Export as a JPEG. Save the invitation to your desktop so it will be easy to find.

  4. Step 4

Now it is time to get prints of the JPEG file you saved. Log on to www.snapfish.com. If you belong to another photo printing website, feel free to use that one. Whatever you are comfortable with. Upload your JPEG file to one of your photo albums at the snapfish site. Choose 4x6 prints. Currently they cost 9 cents per print at Snapfish. If you want larger invitations, order 5x7's, but they are significantly more expensive. Also, larger prints require larger envelopes, and more postage.

  5. Step 5

The last step is to buy envelopes that will fit your invitations, and you are all set to go!
