Coffee and tea can leave stubborn stains in your cup. To restore your mug to its original whiteness, leave the bleach under the counter and head to the pantry for some Tang. This household product naturally eliminates those annoying drink discolorations without harsh chemicals.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Tang
    • Stained Coffee Cup
    • Water
    • Cooktop Cleaning Pads (optional)
      • 1
        stained cup

Drink your coffee or tea as you normally would. See those stains all throughout the cup? Let's get rid of them naturally. Fill your mug with water.

      • 2
        use tang and water

Bring out the Tang! Scoop a tablespoon or two into your water-filled, dirty cup. Now walk away.

      • 3
        soak in tang

Let the Tang-filled cup sit for several hours. Drink your tea or coffee, fill the cup with water and tang, go to work, and return home to perform the last step.

      • 4
        scrub and clean

Lightly scrub the inside of the cup. You can use a paper towel or your normal dish washing sponge. A mildly abrasive pad, like a cooktop cleansing pad, works well. The citric acid in the Tang removes most of the stains, but a little elbow grease never hurts. For particularly tough stains, add a tablespoon of salt for scrubbing power. Rinse out your cup and admire the whiteness that has returned.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Always fill your cup with water after finishing your tea or coffee.

    • Be sure to fill the coffee cup to the very brim when soaking with Tang. You want to reach the stubborn stains at the very top of the cup as well as those as the bottom of the cup.

    • Tang also works in toilet bowels and is pet-friendly!
