Step 1
Brainstorm. Consider stories about the bride and groom - ones that show how much they love each other. Think about sharing childhood memories. If you can't write the toast on your own, look online for traditional versions and funny quotes. Forget about giving the wedding toast if you get drunk.
-
Step 2
Avoid talking about past boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses, your own relationship, finances, the wedding gifts, or the couple's private plans (e.g., pregnancy) during your toast. Keep positive focus on the bride and groom. Also make sure you spend plenty of time rehearsing before the main event.
-
Step 3
Finish your toast on a lighter note, filled with hope and good wishes for the happy couple. Humor might be appropriate, depending on the wedding. You could say something like, "May your children be blessed with rich parents!" Always end with "To (name of bride) and (name of groom)! Cheers!"
