How to Treat Dry Skin for Dogs
A dogs skin is much more sensitive than us humans. A dog is family and it's important we take care of them like one. Dogs get dry skin mostly in the winter, but they also can get it in the summer. My beagle was prone to dry skin, but now he barely ever itches and his coat looks beautiful.

1
Get them eating a healthy diet. Poor diet can lead to dry skin. Your dog may need a better diet, check with your vet and get his or her, recommendation for better food. Your dog might not getting the proper nutrition.

2
Get them on Virgin Coconut Oil. This is great and wonderful for your dogs coat. You should start by giving your dog a teaspoon. Don't give your pet too much right away, then work up to a tablespoon. Put it with their dinner dish. Virgin Coconut Oil will protect their immune system, too. Lowers risk of cancer.

3
Give them vitamin E. This is especially good if you're feeding your dog with foods that contain a lot of vitamin e. You can give them actual vitamin e soft gels. I give my dog one a day.

Make sure you don't give them baths dog too often. Actually I've heard you should only give them a bath twice a year, even. I'm not sure you go to that extreme. If you do bathe your dog, use a oatmeal shampoo, to avoid dry skin. If your dog has extremely sensitive skin, I would consult with your vet on this. Use dog wipes if you feel they stink.

5
Give your dog omega-3. ONE a day, with it's dinner. I give my 30 pound beagle one omega-3, a tablespoon of Virgin Coconut Oil, along one Vitamin E.
-
6
Brush your dog regularly. You should brush your dog every morning. Your dog rolls around a lot in the dirk, grass, and who knows what else he or she is getting on themselves. Make sure they get their flea medicine regularly.
-
7
Take them to the vet for check ups. I know going to the vet can seem scary, but don't feel that way. Take your dog to the vet regularly and for check ups. It's better to be safe than sorry.
