Step 1
Start off by using a shampoo and conditioner made for giving hair volume. Pantene makes affordable volumizing shampoos and conditioners that work really well.
-
Step 2
Apply a small amount of mousse throughout your hair before drying. This will help your hair to hold whatever style you want to create later. Avoid using too much though as it can make your hair dull and stiff.
-
Step 3
Towel dry your hair to remove excess moisture so that you do not have to blow dry as long. Then flip hair over and massage your scalp as you dry to lift your roots and keep your hair from being too flat. If this makes your hair too frizzy, then don't flip over but still massage your scalp and flip your hair as you dry. Using a round brush at the end of blow drying works great for volume.

Step 4
When you get ready to style, apply a root booster if you have one. Garnier Fructis makes an affordable root boosting spray. If you don't have a root booster on hand, then simply spray hair spray onto your fingertips and rub the roots of your hair softly to lift them a little bit.
