When I got my Pit Bull puppy I was not a big dog lover. I liked them alright but I had never really bonded with one.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Love
  • Dog
  1. Step 1
    So Cute!!

    So Cute!!

Get a puppy. Make sure the breed goes with your personality. For example if you are active get a pup that will have a lot of energy but only if you have the time to spend with them to expel that energy. If you do not have the time to spend with your dog then you probably should not have one.

  2. Step 2

When it is a pup make sure you give it the rules immediately. If you have to house train it there are many options. A lot of people use crates. Personally I do not like crates but I hear a lot of people have luck with them. I used the standard paper training and patience. If she made a mistake I would simply show it to her say bad girl and put her on the paper. When I saw her sniffing around I would put her on the paper. When she woke up after she ate. On the paper she would go. When they are with their moms the mom dog cleans them. So you have to catch them before they go. After they get it right make sure the pup knows that it was a really good thing. Praise and treats.

  3. Step 3

Play- We used pull toys a lot. She is a pit bull so she loves the pulling game. Also hide and seek with her balls. Running. The chase me game. You chase her she chases you.
We at first bought the expensive toys, but she ate those up. They were never strong enough. She has an old soccer ball that she loves more than any expensive toy she ever received. Also, I hide treats when I leave for the day. It gives her something to do.

  4. Step 4

Last thing, if you cannot spend time with your dog during the day. Think about getting the dog a friend. Two dogs. Before we got our "baby" a friend, she ate our couch. We came home from work and she had eatten through all the foam of the whole couch. After she got her friend and we knew that could get along well together I have not had any problems. Dogs are by nature "Pack" animals. They need friends.

Tips & Warnings
  • Thats it. I give her all the love she needs and she in turn gives me all the love I could ever want.
  • She obeys and does what she is supposed to because I respect her and she respects me.
  • Make sure the dog is a pup when you get it. That way you grow together.
