Things You'll Need:
- chocolate
- glass bowl
- a bit of patience

Step 1
Break up your chocolate and put it in a glass bowl. If you are melting chocolate chips just pour them into the glass bowl. Your glass bowl should not be too big. You want your chocolate to fill about 1/2 the depth of the bowl. For very small amounts of chocolate you can use a coffee cup.

Step 2
Heat on high for 15 seconds then stop and let it sit for a couple minutes. Then heat again for 15 seconds and stop and let it sit again. After 3 or 4 spurts of heating touch the chocolate with a spoon to see if it's melted. Melted chocolate holds it's shape so it may not look melted when it really is melted. So just touch it with a spoon, not your finger (it can be HOT!).

Step 3
The trick is to heat just a little at a time and this way you will not burn your chocolate! What I do is start my chocolate melting first then as I'm doing my other cooking preparations I just go to the microwave every now and then and heat for 15 seconds. Depending on how much chocolate you are heating it could take 5 heating sessions or maybe more. But it will work every time!
