The Better Business Bureau can be a resource for consumers and business owners to develop trust. Although the internet can be a way to gather information about a company, the Better Business Bureau can help you gain confidence in a companys' ability to help you.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

As a business, fulfill the obligation that the Better Business Bureau has to enable you to put their logo on your website and printed material. It will give the consumer some piece of mind, in a world where 'dissatisfaction' is often their experience.

  2. Step 2

As a consumer, use trusted resources like The Better Business Bureau for information about companies you are interested in using. Use their "Check out a Business" function on their website. It will help you learn the details about any complaints filed against the company. If a company has no complaints, it may be a sign that the company is not in business long enough to meet the criteria that The Better Business Bureau has and that may also impact your decision.

  3. Step 3

Read the report and understand their Rating System. Ratings range from A+ to F.

  4. Step 4

    Read the Customer Review section

Tips & Warnings
  • The Better Business Bureau is concerned with how a company resolves problems. It understands that disagreements occur and what is important is that the company works through the disagreements and problems in a way that satisfies the consumer and business.
