Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • wicker basket
  • cellophane or cellophane bag
  • packing peanuts or shredded paper
  • items to put in the basket
  • bow or trinkets to decorate the basket
  • gift tag to finish it off
  1. Step 1

Gift Baskets make wonderful and fun gifts. If you are at a loss and torn for gift ideas, or are just feeling really creative, then a gift basket is certainly a great choice for you. When picking a gift basket it is very important to plan it out carefully so it is great both functionally and aesthetically.
Here are some to things to consider:

  2. Step 2

1.Theme – first think of the theme of your gift basket. What occasion is it for? What are the recipients likes and dislikes? Once you have the answers, then get the products that you would like to put in the basket. Items to be put in the gift basket should be related to the theme that you have chosen. Another thought is to pick products that are of different heights, shapes and sizes. It makes it look better aesthetically

  3. Step 3

2.Basket – before you pick the products you want to fill in the basket decide the size of the gift basket. If your products are large and you pick a basket with a small opening then it is not going to work. You can even think out of the box and go with any container that might work with the theme of the gift basket. For example if your theme is wine then instead of a wicker basket you could pick a nice looking ice bucket. For a baby basket you could pick a baby bath tub. So think creatively.

  4. Step 4

3.Assembly – in the bottom of the basket or container you will need to put packing peanuts or shredded paper. I like the shredded paper as I use paper that can be recycled so I am also being green. Arrange the big and tall items towards the back and middle and then place the other smaller items towards the front. Play with the placement of the items until it looks visually pleasing. The gift basket should showcase your products and your theme. Place items at different levels so there is movement. To hold the items in place use tape so the items don’t slip and fall and you are able to create a good design.

  5. Step 5

4.Finishing – When you are pleased with the arrangement measure out cellophane paper ensuring that the paper is atleast 5-6 inches longer than the height of the basket. Or you can get a cellophane bag from a local craft store. Wrap the cellophane around the basket and if you wish you can finish it off with a bow or a trinket related to the theme. For baby baskets instead of bows I like to use rattles. Add a gift tag and wow the recipient with your gift.

  6. Step 6

Remember, this is a fun process so don’t forget to have fun. Gift Baskets are a great way to express your creativity and at the same time create a very unique and special gift for the recipient.
