Many people know how to use Yahoo messenger on their mobile phones but not many people realize that they don't have to have the internet on their phones to still use yahoo messenger. Yahoo messenger can actually be used through SMS (text messaging!) Before learning how to set up your phone as mobile, check with your cell phone provider to make sure that you have unlimited text messaging because once you start using yahoo mobile, you will want to always be signed in!

Things You'll Need:

Computer
Internet Connection
Cell (Mobile) Phone
Unlimited Text Messaging

Step 1

First you must have a Yahoo! account and Yahoo! messenger downloaded on your laptop or desktop to get started. Once you have these set up, sign in to your Yahoo! messenger account.
Step 2

Once you are signed in, go the menu bar and click on the messenger tab. Now go down the list and click on sign in to mobile device. It should be about the third option.
Step 3

Next a screen will appear that prompts you to register your mobile device. To register your device, simply select your country and enter your mobile device. Once you have this information entered click continue.
Step 4

Now a text message will be sent to your phone containing a four digit code that must be entered on your PC. This message is to verify that you are using the phone that you entered the number for into the PC.
Step 5

Finally go back to the menu bar and click on the messenger tab again. There will be a new option now that says sign in to followed by the mobile number that you are using. Select this option. You are now signed in as mobile and will receive your messages through text messages. What does this mean? That whenever your contacts are online, they will be able to see that you are mobile and that they can reach you anytime that you are able to receive a text!
