Curls provide you with a magnitude of hairstyle choices, from adding to a French twist to securing a bunch of curls as an up do. The kind of hairstyle you wish to wear may depend on the event, but rest assured, curls can made as casual or dressy as you need them to be.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1
    French twist

    French twist

Try a French twist for an extremely formal up do, with some curls cascading around. Often a French twist is better styled by someone else, but if you are doing it yourself, brush your hair right to the crown and gather your hair in your left hand, holding it about one-third up. Turn your hair upside down and roll it over around the fingers of your right hand. Adjust the ends underneath into a tight roll and pin accordingly, leaving some hair flowing at the ends. If your hair is naturally curly, form some sculpted curls at the top with your fingers. Otherwise, use a curling iron to form some ringlets at the back and top of your head with the ends of your hair. Allow the curls to flow freely from the twist for an elegant up do.

  2. Step 2
    Taylor Swift

Try one of Jessica Alba or Taylor Swift's up dos for a more carefree, curly look. To achieve Alba's curly up do, set your hair in large hot rollers to get soft, curly waves. Then pull your hair back in a low chignon, which is a low bun sitting close to your neck, and secure it with bobby pins and a decorative barrette. If you would like to wear your hair like Taylor's Grammy curly up do, begin by adding volume to your hair with a curling iron. Apply a leave-in conditioner to strengthen your hair, hydrate the ends and restore bounce after adding heat. Tilt your head back, gather your hair in one shake, twirl it around, and twist it into shape. Attach a few bobby pins and spray some shine spray on it so it looks natural.

  3. Step 3
    Angelina Jolie

If your event calls for a dressy half-up curly do, then look towards the styles of Miley Cyrus and Angelina Jolie. If you want a glammed-up ponytail like Cyrus, part your hair to the side and tease it a bit before pulling back the sides. Secure your ponytail with a decorative clip and let some layers frame the face to make this hairstyle look softer. If you want to mimic Angelina's Oscar hairstyle, pull the sides of hair back and secure them with a clip. Next, wrap a chunk of your hair around the clip, building height on the top of your head. Make this hairstyle softer and more feminine by curling 1-inch sections of hair with a curling iron.
