Make Underwater Pool Toys

Diving for submerged objects in the swimming pool is so much fun during the summer time! Here are two ways to make diving toys using plastic Easter eggs and a few other materials you have laying around the house. This is a great idea for pool parties this summer!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first type of swimming pool diving toy is made to sink directly to the bottom of the pool.

  2. Step 2

Take a large plastic Easter egg with pre-cut holes at the bottom of it and fill the egg with large fishing weights. Hot glue each weight to the inside of the top half of the egg. Make sure you are still able to close the plastic egg.

  3. Step 3

Now place hot glue around the inside edge of the weighted half of the plastic egg. Carefully close the plastic egg so that the two halves are glued very securely together.

  4. Step 4

The second type of diving toy for Chlorine or salt water pools is made to have one half at the bottom of the pool and the other half floating a few feet above the weighted half.

  5. Step 5

Use plastic eggs without pre-cut holes. Hot glue one end of a 1-4 foot string inside the bottom of an egg. Now hot glue the inside edge of the bottom half of the egg and close the egg. Make sure that the two egg halves are securely sealed.

  6. Step 6

Now attach one large metal washer to the loose end of the 1-4 foot string by tying the string tightly around the washer. This end of the string is the weighted portion of the toy that will submerged to the bottom of the swimming pool.

  7. Step 7

Vary the lengths of each string so that the eggs will all be at different depths for added fun.

  8. Step 8

These diving toys are a great way to practice snorkeling skills for beginners. Snorkeling can be difficult at first for children especially if they do not have submerged objects to use as a goal for going under the water with their snorkel mask.

Tips & Warnings
  • The washers should be slowly weighted to the bottom of your swimming pool because they might scratched the bottom of the pool if not placed gently.
