Instructions

    • 1

Open Sketchup. You will see that there is already a figure in the scene. You can delete this, but you may want to keep it because it can be useful in judging relative sizes of things like windows and doors while you are modeling.

    • 2

Use the Rectangular tool to draw the outline of your room or, if the room has an irregular shape, use the Line tool to draw the outline.

    • 3

Use the Inset tool to create the inner inset that will serve as the walls. Select the inset area and use the Pushup tool to raise the walls up to the height you want. Use the Move tool to move the figure into the room so that you can be sure you are getting the proportions right.

    • 4

Use the Paint Bucket to add materials to you room walls. You can choose from a wide variety of materials from plain color to wood paneling to brick.

    • 5

Click on the Google 3-D Warehouse Icon and select whatever props, such as windows, doors and furniture, you might want in the room. Then, resize and position the props where you want them. And, there you have it; a virtual room ready to be exported and rendered in your own 3-D rendering software.
