1
First, determine if your baby is constipated. For babies who only have breastmilk, s/he is likely not constipated. For babies who have some or all formula, and have not had a bowel movement for more than a day, s/he may be constipated. For babies who have solids, and have not had a bowel movement for more than a day, s/he is constipated.

First, try giving your baby a warm bath. Gently rub the tummy area in a clockwise motion to help stimulate the bowels.
-
-
3
Push the knees up towards the tummy gently to provide pressure.
-
4
Hold the baby in a squatting position over a potty or sink.
-
5
If the baby is mobile, allow him to crawl/creep and get exercise in an open area of your house.
-
6
Give the baby strained prunes or prune juice.
-
7
Give the baby an extra 2-3 ounces of water.
-
8
Give the baby additional fruits and vegetables, such as pears, prunes, peas, or carrots.

Add 1/2 teaspoon of flax oil to the baby's bottle.

Supplement with probiotics to maintain healthy gut flora.

If instant relief is required, a Fleet baby enema will provide immediate results. I would recommend an enema after 5 or more days without a movement, or if the child is showing intense discomfort or pain.

Tips & Warnings
Add as many vegetables, fruits, and non-constipating grains to the baby's diet as possible.
If it is clear your baby is going on a strike and will only eat cheese or something else constipating, go on offense and add water, flax oil, and juice to his diet.
Do not use mineral oil as a stool softener. Consult your physician.
