Many people go to paint stores or places like Home Depot and Lowes to purchase paint for their homes. In many cases, these folks bring in a swatch or an item that they would like to match the exact color of for their paint. There are times when the paint that is mixed does not wind up exactly matching the color the customer had requested. In this case, the paint is put aside and labeled as “mismatched” and the customer will get new paint mixes for them to obtain the exact colored they wanted.

Mismatched paint is an opportunity for you to save up to 80% off the retail price of your paint. If you want to buy cheap paint, simply call or visit your local paint retailers and ask if they have any mismatched paint for sale. If so, ask them what colors they have and how many gallons of each color.

The fact is, you probably won’t find the exact color you wanted in mismatched paint but you can often come close. Make sure when purchasing mismatched paint that there are enough gallons available to meet your needs. You may even be able to negotiate the price even lower with the store manager.

If the paint stores do not have the color you are looking for, ask them to take your name and number and to call you whenever they get mismatched paint in that color. You may have to be patient and wait for your color, but you can literally save hundreds of dollars by waiting for the right mismatched paint.

If you are a professional painter and you can provide a customer with the color they need by using mismatched paint – you can greatly increase your profit margin. Many people don’t realize how often professional painters use mismatched paint.
