Detailed information is often easier to understand when presented in the form of a pie chart. You need not have a design program to format your statistics in pie chart form. Microsoft Word can create beautiful, detailed and easy to understand pie charts with a few easy steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

From the start window, mover cursor up to programs and click.

  2. Step 2

Scroll down using your mouse or arrow keys until you locate Microsoft Office, then to Microsoft Word. Click to open.

  3. Step 3

From the upper left corner, choose file, then open, then new document.

  4. Step 4

Once the blank document is created, choose insert from the tool bar at the top of the document.

  5. Step 5

Scroll down and choose chart, then 'pie chart' from the choices given.

  6. Step 6

Enter your data in the spreadsheet on your right. This will alter the proportions and spacing of your pie chart on the left. The data in column A on the right is represented in the legend of the chart on the left. The amounts in column B on the right are represented by the "slices" in the pie chart on your left.

  7. Step 7

Once the data is entered, the colors can be changed by clicking on the design tab on the tool bar above the pie chart. From there, you can choose from the menu of available color schemes.

  8. Step 8

Right click on the legend next to the pie chart to change the font, labels and color of the labels.
