The Amish are unique in their beliefs and lifestyle. However, they do share some of their culture with us by allowing the rest of the world to experience their marketplace.

      As you begin to plan your trip to Northern Indiana, you'll want to decide on lodging. You can choose between a bed and breakfast, a traditional hotel, a campground, or even a water park!

      Amish Store

      One of the best ways to visit Amish country is to check out their marketplace. Although, the town of Shipshewana is less than one square mile and the population is just over 500, there are over 100 stores and shops in the area.

      While in town, you'll definitely want to visit the famous Shipshewana Flea Market, which has close to 900 vendors. There you will find anything from antiques and handcrafted furniture to candles and fruit. Keep in mind they are only open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

      The Das Dutchman Essenhaus

      Once you're finished shopping, be sure to try one of the traditional Amish or Mennonite restaurants like the Das Dutchman Essenhaus or The Blue Gate Restaurant and Theater. The Amish serve their dinners in a unique family style you will love.

      And finally, while you're in Amish country, don't forget to drive around and see the Amish in their natural capacity. It is neat to see them working on their farms and riding in their horse and buggies. Don't forget to share the road!
