Find Your Local Library
Find Your Local Library

So many useful things may be done at or through your public library that it's important to be familiar with its location and offerings. You can join a book club, learn another language, access public records and necessary forms (such as tax documents), in addition to checking out endless reading material, dvds, cds, and much more. Did you also know that your local library offers free computer use and internet access? So, you can also do a plethora of activities as your library through computer use, too, such as career planning and job hunting. This guide will help you perform a web search to locate your nearest library so that you may empower yourself to continue to grow and learn.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a computer
  1. Step 1

Locate your nearest library by visiting this site: http://nces.ed.gov/surveys/libraries/librarysearch/.

  2. Step 2

Although convenient, this site does not have the most up-to-date location listings. So, to ensure that you find more complete listings, try searching for your nearest library on Google. Go to www.google.com and enter your county's name, plus the words "county library". For example, you would enter "Maricopa County Library" if you live in Maricopa County.

  3. Step 3

Hit your "Enter" key and the search will most likely pull up your county's library homepage as the first listing.

  4. Step 4

Click on that listing, then click on "Locations".
