Apply Lipstick

This is for the women who cannot live without lipstick. As a Makeup Artist, the main complaint I hear is that their lipstick won't "stay put". Here are some tips on how to make your lipstick last for hours.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • compact or loose powder
  • lip liner
  • lip brush
  • lipstick
  • Q-Tips
  1. Step 1

Before applying your lipstick, pat your lips with powder. It can be a compact powder or loose, mineral foundation. Not only does it create a blank canvas, but it adheres to your lipstick.

  2. Step 2

Apply lip liner, starting with the perimeter of your lips. Then fill in the entire lip area with the liner. Rest your fingers on your chin during the application for balance. There is nothing worse than a "shakey" hand when you are trying to create gorgeous lips.

  3. Step 3

Apply your lipstick either directly from the tube or with a lip brush. I prefer a lip brush because it gives me better control and I'm less likely to go beyond the lip line.

  4. Step 4

Repeat steps 1 and 3 for a longer, lasting effect or for a touch-up after a meal.

  5. Step 5

If you've created a smudge or you've gone beyond the lip line, use a dry Q-Tip to erase your mistakes. It's amazing!

Tips & Warnings
  • This application will also avoid lipstick bleeding.
  • To keep your lipstick off of your teeth, put your index finger in your mouth and slowly pull it out. The excess lipstick will be removed by your finger and will never show up on your teeth.
  • Check the ingredients of the lipstick before buying it. Some lipsticks contain vanilla or mint for flavor and scent. If you have any allergies to either of these, please stay away from it.
