How to Find Out When Someone is Not Following You Back on Twitter

Twitter is a free social networking service used to keep up with people you know and companies or people that interest you. When you choose to follow those people and companies, a continuous stream of information appears on your Twitter home screen whenever they post. If those same people and companies follow you on Twitter, then your posts appear on their home screens. If you are curious as to which of your followers are following you back on Twitter, there is a simple way to find out.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Twitter account. You should see the "What's happening?" heading at the top of the screen above the tweets of the people and companies you are following. To the right side of the screen is an information panel that contains details on how many people you follow and how many follow you.

Click on the "Following" link in the right-hand panel to go to a list of everyone that you are following. Click on an individual or company's name; when you do, the information panel on the right side of the window changes to display information about your choice.

    • 3

Locate the "Following" button in the information panel and look to the immediate right of the button. If you see an envelope icon, the individual or company is following you. If there is no envelope icon, you are not being followed. The envelope icon allows you to send a direct message only to someone you follow who also follows you.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the individual or company does not follow anyone, there is no "Following" button or envelope icon on the information panel.
