      Pick summer squash that is fresh and not overgrown. Summer squash should be picked before they get too large,to keep them flavorful. After choosing the summer squash, clean and rinse with cool water.

      Next slice the summer squash in slices. Cut up all the summer squash you would like to freeze.While cutting,prepare a large pot, and fill with water. Put on the stove to boil.

      When the water has reached a rolling boil, add in the summer squash to blanch. The summer squash should boil for 3 minutes.

      After the 3 minutes of blanching, the squash needs to be put in ice cold water to cool off. This stops the vegetable from being over cooked from the blanching process. It should take about 3 minutes for the squash to cool completely. Change water as necessary to keep it icy cold.

      When the summer squash is cold, strain the water and wait for the squash to dry. Now it can be put in freezer bags to freeze.
