      To cite a book in APA style documentation format, you'll need the author's name, the publication year, and of course the name of the book. Only the first letter of the title and subtitle are capitalized... for example:

      Hitchens, Christopher (2008). God is not great: How religion poisons everything. France: Hachette Book Group

      If you wanted to cite a newspaper you would use something like this:

      Everage, A. (2009, April 4). Pirates take over ship! The Detroit Times,
      pp. B2, B3.

      And finally, if you need to quote a webpage (in general) you would use something like this...

      The CDC's website gives a great understanding of alcohol abuse.
      (http://www.cdc.gov)

      you'll need to make sure you add this on your reference page also, or you may get some points taken off.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't let APA format get you down, it's easy once you get the hang of it.

  • Make sure you are using correct punctuation, and capitalizing letters only when necessary.
