Make Money Selling Books Online
Make Money Selling Books Online

Do you need some extra cash in these hard economic times? Well, selling books online is an inexpensive and easy way to make that extra cash.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Computer
  • Some Time To Research
  • Time To Go To The Post Office
  1. Step 1

First gather all of the books that you no longer want that are around your apartment or house. For example, college textbooks sell great online as well as non-fiction books that can be used for research.

  2. Step 2

Next, make an account on half.com and/or amazon.com. Half.com is a company owned by Ebay that sells media such as books, DVDs, CDs, and games. Once you have made an account research your books on half.com as well as amazon.com to see what they have been selling for. You can do this by entering the book's ISBN number (found on the back of the book normally) into the search box. Sometimes there can be a substantial difference between what the book sells for on half.com versus amazon.com. Sell on the site that has been selling the book for the higher price.

  3. Step 3

After you become comfortable using half.com and amazon.com, you can start buying media cheap and reselling it for a profit. I do this all the time. The best places to buy media for resale are at yard sales, your local library, campus libraries, and thrift shops. I normally never pay more than a dollar per book, unless I have researched the book and know that it will be worth investing more in.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're in college, ALWAYS sell your books online at half.com because the campus book store doesn't buy them for as nearly as much money as people do online.
  • Buying bubble mailers is an easy and inexpensive way to package your books. It sure beats making boxes!
  • ALWAYS ship your media (music, CDs, games, books) as media mail. It is cheaper than normal shipping.
  • If you begin to sell a lot of media and don't have time to go to the post office, you may want to visit stamps.com. You can create an account and start printing postage from the comfort of your own home.
  • Make sure that you mail your items in a timely manner (usually within 3 days of purchase).
