Step 1
First be realistic and do not punish thinking that it is a kid's fault. Realize you need to give small rewards and help the child gradually learn.
-
Step 2
Next put out sheets and clean pajamas so they can clean up after themselves and get use to getting up at that time.
-
Step 3
Consider giving the child an alarm so that he or she can set it off every few hours and go to the bathroom himself.
-
Step 4
Minimize liquid intake the 2 to 3 hours before bed so that they will have a fairly empty bladder.
-
Step 5
Increase the fiber in your child's diet to help everything move and reduce the time from consumption to when it leaves the body.
-
Step 6
Talk to your child and get his or her input on why they wet their bed and work with them on a solution. This will help the child feel more empowered and involved and have an extra vested interest to stop.
