Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    First, click on the link below that will take you to the website, www.missingmoney.com

  2. Step 2

    Next, enter your First Name, Last Name and State into the Search Box and click GO!

  3. Step 3

    A Page will then open up with all of the possible matches the Search Engine has found. There will also be a box to the far right that will let you know if the money is Under or Over $100! If you feel one of the names on the list is you, click on it and it will take you to the appropriate State's website where the money is.

  4. Step 4

    After you have been directed to the State's Missing Money website, you will be asked to prove your identity by mailing in documentation such as: Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Proof of Address, etc. The State's Missing Money sites are operated by the Treasury Department in that State and are very secure.

Tips & Warnings
  • It might be helpful to search using your Maiden Name, as money might have been under your Maiden Name.
  • Be sure to include all necessary documentation the first time you send your paperwork in, this will help process your claim faster.
  • You may have you provide additional documentation as requested.

on 6/27/2009 It would be terrible to have missing money. The only thing I would be liery of is sending so much personal info but I guess in order to get it that it's a must. I am glad that they take such caution. I didn't know about this. Thanks *5
