1
Find a local dealer of scrap metal in your area. This can safely be accomplished by a phone book search or an internet search. If you can't find one near you find one on the internet.
-
2
Clean and gather your scrap metal into a manageable bundle. This will help to speed things up when you reach the recycling site. Also the cleaning will ensure that you are not penalized for trying to add weight to your scrap metal, this is very bad and should not be done under any circumstances.

3
Identify your scrap metal. If it is different metal you will have to sort it. Some recyclers do not take certain types of metals, so you may need to find more than one recycler. Most common metals to be taken? Copper, aluminum, steel and the like. For scrap precious metals you will need to go through a different dealer as they are more expensive, an online search should find you one easily.
-
4
Arrange transportation. If you have a heavy load see if the recycler will pick it up, or find a friend with a truck. If you are mailing it again find out what the recycler can do for you.
-
5
Collect your money! Its that simple.
