Step 1
LCD or Plasma.
Plasma televisions are cheaper than lcd tv's. But eventually the plama tv can run out of plasma. If this happens it can be very expensive to fix this problem. So in the long run a lcd television may be your best option when purchasing a tv. It will usually hold up longer, even though it costs a little more. But HD televisions have went down since they first came out, so getting a good deal shouldn't be too hard. -
Step 2
Picking a brand.
Sometimes the same television can be much more expensive just because of the brand name. Purchasing an off brand might be a little scary, but if you are nervous at all just purchase a extend warranty on your television. That way if the tv causes any problems you can either have it fixed, or maybe even get all of your money back (depending on the warranty). -
Step 3
Pawn shops.
If you don't mind owning something that someone has previously owned, you may want to stop by a pawn shop. Not all of the televisions will be in the best shape, so be sure to check out the television thoroughly before purchasing it. Another great spot to get a cheaper television is ebay or an online auction website. Chances are you will be able to save at least a small amount of money other tv that you are looking at.
