Cheeseburgers have always been delicious to me, especially with a bbq flavor. I rarely had cheeseburgers though because of the possibility of high calorie content and limited health value. Here is a recipe to make a healthy and delicious vegetarian cheeseburger that will surely cure your cheeseburger cravings, while giving you the vitamins and fiber you need with only a small amount of calories. I can eat this vegetarian cheeseburger everyday. It's a cheeseburger that is under 300 calories and tastes delicious and is filling.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vegetarian burger
  • Whole wheat buns or whole wheat english muffins
  • Fat free cheese or soy cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fat free salsa
  1. Step 1

Heat up your veggie burger for 30 seconds in a microwave. I really love Amy's Texas burger because it is big, tastes just like a burger and has a sweet bbq flavor, but pick your favorite.

  2. Step 2

Get two whole wheat burger buns. You can also use light whole wheat bread or whole wheat english muffins. I really like the flavor of Thomas's hearty grains whole wheat muffins. Place veggie burger on one side of whole wheat bun or muffin.

  3. Step 3

Place low fat or fat free cheddar cheese slice on top of veggie burger that is on top of whole wheat bun or muffin and place in microwave for about 20-25 seconds. Cheese should be melted and it should be warm. Take out of the microwave and add two tablespoons of fat free salsa. This gives it even extra flavor and a little kick depending on the heat of the salsa you use. Top with the other side of the whole wheat bun or muffin and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Makes an excellent meal that is truly filling with a side salad or even a cup of light soup.
  • If you need some dessert, have some light yogurt or a cup of your favorite fruit.
