Baldness affects males and FEMALES though is more prevalent in males. There are many topical treatments now available but there are also some well-known medical treatments which you can discuss with your doctor.

Things You'll Need:

  • Compromise your needs/desires with reality
  1. Step 1

Male pattern baldness comes in many forms. Many men, including famous men, obsess over the state of their receding or falling locks! It is truly distressing for many men and for women even more so. While there have been many topical solutions such as Rogaine (Regaine in some countries) and others, hair transplants and severe measures remain the only real hope for men who are deep in the throws of balding, and women too.

That said, the medical community has long since known of sure-fire ways of conquering baldness before it happens but are reluctant to use these. I am not going to hold back information as I personally believe every individual has a right to evaluate and decide on risk/benefit in regard to their own situation.

  2. Step 2

For female hair loss the first line of defense is to go right to an endocrinologist. Upward of 90% of the time female baldness has its root in overproduction of male hormone which may be due to polycystic ovarian disease, ovarian cancer or other serious underlying issues, these NEED medical attention and thus any balding woman should seek a complete work up!

For men the situation is not as easy. Most of the time it is safe to say heredity plays a role and a very good indicator, though by far not fool-proof, is how hairy the man is. A man with a hair body (torso) will tend to bald more often than men with more gender neutral physical features and less bodily hair. This is because there is a direct correlation between balding and testosterone. Oddly, the same hormone that causes body hair, causes follicles on the head to atrophy and die off. When possible you can seek an endocrinologist opinion and possible hormonal treatments.

  3. Step 3

I always recommend seeking professional help first. That said this is not always possible and many times doctors do not want to prescribe the drugs I am about to discuss due to serious side effects. The fact is that any man who is that concerned with losing his hair has the RIGHT, in my opinion, to know all available options.

As balding is largely testosterone dependent there are a few drugs you can use to stave off this bane. One such drug is a blood pressure medication called aldactone. This has the side effect of lowering testosterone and thus can be safely used to control blood pressure and also stave off balding. There are side effects but these are rare and though they include decreased libido, possible slight breast growth (reversible upon stopping) these are rare. If taken in the right dose aldactone, available by your doctor or online at www.netmedorders.com can help you greatly. Likewise and also available on www.netmedorders.com or through your doctor is the female hormone estrogen. This is much more drastic, comes with many more side effects and is much more risky. The risks include increase risk of stroke, breast growth, lowered sexual libido, testicular atrophy and others. This is really best done in the office of a professional who agrees to support this therapy.

Abroad and something I am highly against, is cyproterone acetate. This is a medication used in some countries for chemical castration, used in some female birth control pills for acne reduction and used to treat pre-operative transsexuals to lower testosterone. This is very toxic to the liver and not currently legal in the USA.

Tips & Warnings
  • Think of what your goals are. If you can live with less libido (which is only a slight risk) I would first recommend aldactone as a first line of defense.
  • Weigh risks of any medication you ingest.
  • Remember to prevent is easier than to fix. If you treat before the hair is gone you are in better shape than if you seek to do hair transplants or other remedies after the fact. So act sooner than later.
  • Anytime you choose to buy and take a drug on your own volition you must be fully aware of all the interactions and possible side-effects. I suggest that you buy any medications on www.netmedorders.com and check interactions on www.drugs.com which has extensive information on all drugs, interactions and side effects. As always I recommend a doctor be your first resort, not last!
