Things You'll Need:
- Two part epoxy
- Mixing surface
- Clean dry flat surface
- Mixing stick
- Application stick
- Sandpaper
-
Step 1
Prepare a clean and dry work surface where your work will not be interrupted.
-
Step 2
Clean and dry your broken denture parts.
-
Step 3
Using your work area, practice putting the pieces together so you can line up the parts quickly as close as possible to their original position before being broken.
Once you are able to quickly line up the broken pieces you will be ready for the epoxy. -
Step 4
For mixing the epoxy lay down a mixing surface such as a piece of cardboard or old book cover.
-
Step 5
Squeeze out a healthy glob of equal parts of the two part epoxy. With your mixing stick stir the epoxy until both parts are evenly mixed.
-
Step 6
Using your application stick, apply just enough epoxy to the fractured or broken surfaces to lightly cover them and slide the pieces together.
-
Step 7
Gently hold the pieces together for a minute and stabilize them so they do not come apart.
-
Step 8
Once your pieces are together, without lifting the denture and using your application stick, apply a thin layer of epoxy along the break. And when I say thin I mean thin. Do not over do this step.
-
Step 9
Allow your work time to harden. Depending on the epoxy used this may be as little as five minutes before you can handle the denture without it coming apart.
-
Step 10
Then turn the denture over and apply a thin layer to the other side of the break.
-
Step 11
When your epoxy is hardened, gently wash the denture and try placing it in your mouth. It may not fit exactly as before. For slight differences your mouth will adjust. For larger differences, you may need to undo your work and try again.
