The Catholic Church is one of the largest and most powerful institutions throughout the world. Completely understanding religion in general is impossible for any one to figure out or explain. Basically, there is not all that much difference between certain protestant denominations and the Catholic faith. Essentially, Catholics and Protestants share the same beliefs as it pertains to the scripture. However, the major differences between Catholic and Protestant beliefs are the "man made rules of the church".

The first step in becoming Catholic is for the person to meet with a local Catholic priest and discuss your conversion. Next, after speaking with you, the priest will tell you that you will have to enroll in Catholic (CCD) classes which are normally held on Saturdays & Sundays. In addition, the church requires that some one who converts must be Baptized as a Catholic. Next, the person will have to also receive the sacrament of reconciliation (confession), followed by Confirmation.
