Step 1
Bear in search of food.Camping trips can be a great deal of fun. However, you always need to exercise caution while camping. Depending on the area you choose to pitch your tent, you could be in an area with wild animals including bears. Most park grounds are safe, but you can not control a suprise visit by a hungry bear.

Step 2
Camp Grounds.Bears are territorial and normally only venture out during the night in search of food. Bears seem to have little to near fear of human beings any more. Bears can cause great destruction to vehicles, cabins, and humans. There are some ways you can protect yourself from bear attacks and encounters. First, do not keep any open containers of food outside or around your tent or camper. Bears have an excellent sense of smell. In addition, if you happen to spot a bear at a distance do not arouse the bear and don't run away. Running from a bear makes matters worse. Try to walk away slowly without arousing the bear. Aside from food, bears will also attack humans if they have cubs and feel the human poses a danger to the bears offspring.

Step 3
Camper. If you do have the misfortune of encountering an angry bear, contrary to what you may have heard, do not roll over and play dead, that is the worst thing that you can do. What you should you is make a great deal of noise and act as if you are not afraid of the bear. Many times the making of noise does cause the bear to retreat.

Step 4
Park Ranger Station.Keep in mind, bears have become very bold where humans are concerned. Bears have no reason to fear us, basically a bear is at least 800 pounds, at least 5-5x the body weight of a human, this is reason enough for the bear to have no fear of humans. Bears have super sharp claws and huge strong teeth. Bears have plenty of ways to protect themselves and an attack on a human can be fatal.
