Instructions

    • 1

Sponge vinegar onto the vinyl surface. Let the vinegar stand for a few minutes and wipe off. If the mildew does not seem to be coming off, sponging on more vinegar and letting it stay on the vinyl for several hours. Vinegar is acidic and should kill the mildew.

    • 2

If, however, the mildew is still noticeable after you have applied the vinegar, you can try using bleach. Using gloves, sponge or spray the bleach onto the mildewy vinyl. Try not to breathe in the fumes.

    • 3

You should see that the mildew is changing from a dark to a whitish color. Wipe off the mildew, and wash down the vinyl with soap and water to remove the last traces of mildew. (If you don't remove it all, it might regrow.)

    • 4

To keep the mildew from regrowing, wipe down the vinyl with vinegar every week or so.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you use bleach, make sure your area is well ventilated.

  • Keep all bleach products away from children and pets.

  • Never mix bleach and ammonia. The fumes can be toxic.
