Things You'll Need:
- paper
- books
- work ethic

Step 1
Ready to conquer the SATs? You bet. First thing to do is find an SAT location, plan a date to take the exam, and check with your schools to make sure the date is early enough, so you can send in your scores to schools without worry. Depending on how much time you have, ideally, you want a few months to prepare for the exam.
-
Step 2
Now that you have your exam date, you begin to prepare. There are many ways to do this. You can buy SAT prep books, enroll in SAT prep classes, or even hire a private SAT tutor. But how do you know what's on the exam? Begin by taking a practice test. This test will allow you to see what's on the test and what you need to improve upon.

Step 3
Once you've scored the practice test, begin working on the subjects you're struggling with. Prep books are the cheapest way-- you can often find them at the library (just can't write in them) or used from friends. Of course, bookstores also carry them. Follow the prep book by going through examples and learning the tricks behind each math problem, and the tactics to figuring out the reading/verbal sections. Good luck!
