Growing indoor plants and sharing your home with a cat can be a tricky situation. With a little creative thinking you can have both.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

One way to keep house plants safe from a curious or destructive cat is to display the plants inside of a bird cage. They actually look very lovely growing inside the cage. An ivy is a great plant to grow inside a bird cage.

  2. Step 2

Hanging baskets are usually safe from cats if you hang them in an area where the cat can't jump on something to reach them.

  3. Step 3

Place you plant under a glass of some sort. Display it on a cake plate with a glass cover. Combine a collection of glass covered plants as a display for a dining room table or a table in your foyer.

  4. Step 4

Choose terrariums over potted plants to ensure the safety of the plants. An orchid or various ferns make good terrarium plants.

Tips & Warnings
  • Yard sales are a great place to find used cages or various types of glasses and bowls to use as covers for your plants.
  • Some plants are toxic to cats so it is necessary to keep them safely away from your cat. You have to protect both the cat and the plant.
