Oral sex is practiced much more today than it was 100, 50, and even 20 years ago. Kids today think that they can engage in oral sex and not be at risk for exposure to diseases. They think that engaging in oral sex is not really sex and so they are not breaking vows or laws. Their information is incorrect and it is up to the parents or parent figures to give them the correct and safe information.

  1. Step 1

Oral sex is causing exposure to and resulting in HPV in the mouth and throat. HPV traditionally caused cervical cancer. Now doctors are seeing a new breed of cancers in the mouth and throat from exposure to HPV during the engagement of oral sex. Anyone who thinks that oral sex is safe and you can't get sick from it is wrong. You not only can contract HPV in your mouth you can be exposed to and contract herpes, HIV & AIDS, gonorrhea, syphilis, and infections from yeast in the vagina or ****.

  2. Step 2

Oral sex is SEX. Sexual intercourse is not the only act of sexual engagement. If you are not of legal age to be practicing sexual acts or you are over 18 and engage in oral sex with someone under 18 you are breaking the law. If you practice a religion that does not believe in sex before marriage be aware that oral sex is sex before marriage.

  3. Step 3

There are condoms or films that can be used during oral sex to decrease your risk of exposure. If you want to engage in oral sex you should be in a long term monogamous relationship. The risks of exposure are more during oral sex than they are during sexual intercourse. It is harder to protect yourself from the infections and diseases. The contraceptives, while helpful, are not as protective as a traditional condom used during intercourse.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be prepared to give condoms to your teen or young adult or let them know where they can get condoms or films for oral sex.
