Instructions

    • 1

Pour boiling water over the weeds. This extreme temperature will kill the weeds almost immediately, causing death from leaves to roots. After the area has fully cooled, you can easily pull the weeds out completely or use a hand tiller to turn the weeds under and allow them to decompose and fertilize your soil.

    • 2

Sprinkle salt over weedy patches. For best results, make sure that the salt is near the base of the weeds, surrounding the base of the stems. This method generally takes approximately a week to kill the weeds.

    • 3

Spray or pour white vinegar over the weeds. Saturate the leaves and douse the stems fully. Weeds usually die two or three days after you've applied the vinegar. Some stubborn or unusually large weeds may require reapplication if they have not become yellow or wilted after three days.

    • 4

Combine two or more of the methods for thick, tall weeds covering large areas. For instance, you could add 1/4 cup of salt to each gallon or boiling water. Sprinkle salt, then follow up with vinegar. Saturate the weeds with white vinegar, then pour boiling water over them twenty-four hours later.
