Step 1
Set up two printers in the office. One for printing out two sides papers and the other for regular print jobs. Put a box in the office where employees can put in used paper instead of putting it into the trash or recycle bin. Sometimes extra paper gets printed out or a draft is printed out but the paper is still good and can be turned over and printed on again.
-
Step 2
Have a box of in the office by the xerox machine where employees can put paper. Maybe it was an extra copy that they didn't need or a crooked copy, but in can be put into an empty box and collected. Then it can be cut in half or in quarters and stacked and be used as note paper by the employees.
-
Step 3
Make it a policy that every employee completely turns off their computer, printers and copy machines. Having everything plugged into a multiple socket power cord makes sure that everything is turned off.
-
Step 4
Use light switches that automatically turn off when there is no one around, such as in storage rooms or break rooms.
-
Step 5
Do not let your employees have their own individual coffee pots, toasters, toaster ovens, or portable fans. They are left unnecessarily on or sometimes forgotten and can cause a fire. It's best that all be kept in a break room and everything turned off at night.
-
Step 6
As a gift give each of your employees a mug and a spoon. Your goal is to cut down,if not completely eliminate paper products. Have a mug rack next to the sink in the break room so each employee can hang their mug their after they wash it.
-
Step 7
Only purchase recycled paper products for your employees to use.
-
Step 8
Install a programmable thermostat. Encourage your employees to open or close blinds or drapes to heat or cool the office.
-
Step 9
Check to see if all the lights need to be on in the office. If your office has a row of florescent lights turning on every other one can save money and you still have enough light to see.
