Step 1
Log on to whatever website you use to file your weekly unemployment claim. This website varies depending on which state you are drawing you unemployment benefits from. When you are logged in to your unemployment profile click the links you do to file your normal weekly claim.
-
Step 2
When prompted to do so enter if you found any work click "yes." After doing so you will be asked to enter how much money you earned before any taxes were taken out on the amount you earned. Enter the amount into the box given.
-
Step 3
A common misunderstanding in the unemployment claim process is thinking that if you find any work your unemployment will be suspended. This idea is false! The amount of money you make that week is simply deducted from the amount of your normal weekly benefit. For example, If you normally receive $250 weekly in unemployment benefits and you earn $170 doing side work that you were able to find, your unemployment benefit for that week will be $80.
